Adjustments (Part 4)
Life is a series of adjustments. Some adjustments are because of our choices. We choose to make a change. Those are the easier ones to adjust to. Some adjustments we are forced to make because of life circumstances, other people’s choices. We didn’t ask for them. We didn’t desire them. These changes are just thrust upon us. For example: Death of a loved one, health issue, divorce, global pandemic. In Israel’s history there came a time when they were taken into exile. It was something they didn’t ask for or desire. This was centuries after they entered the Promised Land. They had thrived as a nation and then deteriorated. And there came a time when God withdrew his hand and a foreign power, the Babylonians, swept in and took the people into an exile for 70 years. It was around the time when many of the Old Testament prophetic books were written - Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, etc . This was a time when change was forced upon them. While in exile in Babylonia - They lost their freedom to gather, to worship, their customs, their freedom to travel & move. Change was forced on them.
How did they to respond to it? AND, how did God want them to respond?
The story of our lives is often defined by our adjustments to the things life throws at us. This series will unpack how we respond?
